- We don’t need to wait until we have problems to seek out pelvic floor health – if we don’t wait until we are starving to eat, or exhausted to sleep, we don’t need to wait until we are leaking or in pain to strive for pelvic health.
Good pelvic health can lead to better bowel regularity – which certainly helps avoid gut inflammation, addresses bloating, and energetically moves things down and out for a less stagnant system.
- The quality of our nervous system (and our breath) strongly influences the physiology of our pelvic floor, bladder, and bowels.
When we are regulated and feel a natural sense of ease and safety our adrenals don’t have to overwork to produce cortisol or adrenaline. Our bladder can gently fill, and store without a sense of urgency or increased frequency. We might sleep through the night without getting up several times. All of our myofascial tissue can be fluid and move dynamically to support us.
- A stable base of support can be cultivated by everyone – even if you have had a hysterectomy, surgeries, birth or other trauma
As human beings, we are not just a collection of parts put together and torn apart like cars or machines. However, our bodies can sometimes hold the stories and held-back emotions of our complex histories. Focusing on the wellness and the health of our pelvic structures can allow dynamic healing and transformation to occur – especially following major or minor trauma.
- Your pelvic floor muscles strongly drive your hips, low back and can even influence your jaw and throat!
Do you thrive when you are performing or playing intensely? Do you love to run, hike, sing, dance – or just go all out in your spring or summer gardens? Looking at the function of your pelvic muscles can really help to optimize breathing, improve coordination and range of lower body movement, and even affect vocal quality.
- There is no formula for optimal core and pelvic health – but making peace with your pelvis can be truly empowering
The pelvic floor, along with the pelvic bones and organs are common areas that many of us have learned to ignore, avoid, or neglect. Holistic pelvic health is one of my passions – because it can bring people significant life transformation including improved confidence, joy of movement, and better sex.
Stay tuned if you are wanting more guidance on how to improve pelvic health – plans are in the works for new opportunities for more joy, more health, and more wholeness to more pelvises near you.
